HOF O

HISTORY

In its original typology, house Kilian is a classic “Dreiseithof” (three-sided farmyard). Renovations that took place in the past resulted in a combined living and working area in the form of an “Einspringerhof”.

TASK DESCRIPTION

Our task is to uncover the well-preserved substance of the building and to harmoniously integrate additional room into the existing structure.

IDEA

The traditional “Hofabschluss” (closure of the yard) including wall and gate is reinterpreted as an entry zone made of glass. This gives the existing vault and impressive wood construction new visual power. The new construction adds to the singularity of the original substance and creates a harmonic and sharpened overall image.
